Inujima Diaries: A Slice of Summer🎐🩵
Our third Inujima activity was burning hot literally!
Under the blazing summer sun, we held a cheerful pizza using ingredients from the Life Garden we planted back in May.
【Found it 🍅👀】
I was a bit worried about the extreme heat, but while searching through the overgrown beds, I finally found a tomato! (So many weeds, though.)
After clearing them out, we found even more, and they were incredibly juicy. Honestly, they tasted better than store-bought ones😋💕【Wellness Starts in the Soil *。✧】
Why? Here is my idea:
Have you ever heard of "horticultural therapy"?
Gardening and plant-based activities have been shown to improve both mental and physical health. They can reduce stress, anxiety and symptoms of depression, while also boosting mood, cognitive function and social connection.
This activity reminds me that even in a class focused on social design, there is real value in these quiet, grounding moments.
Taking care of your mental health through something as simple as tending to a garden isn't just personal care. It's also part of building a healthier, more sustainable society.
No chemicals, no shortcuts, just nature, effort and joy.

Back at the pizza party, we made our margherita using tomato, capsicum, basil, okra and some herbs all fresh from the garden!
I arranged the topping to look like a little face (even though I knew the cheese would cover it up)
【Made with Love💗】
For our second pizza, we shaped it like a heart as a thank you to the garden master, Hashitume-san, who always supports us with so much care.
I made this one with my lovely senpai, who took this class last year.
Spending time with her made me so happy; she gave me great advice, warm encouragement, and so much positive energy💫
We made it! |
To wrap up the day, we made our own beautiful dried flower arrangements.
The colour and scent were just perfect for me, I have already decorated mine in my room!
Every time I see it, it brings back the peaceful vibes and special moments of Inujima.
What made it even more fun was that each of our arrangements had a little bit different flowers, leaves and quality.
It was interesting to see everyone's choices, and honestly, I love them all😽🫶🏻⸝⸝꙳
【Simply Being, Deeply Living𓏸𓂂𓈒🫖 】
Overall, it was a pretty hot day, but Inujima reminds me of the importance of simply doing, connecting with others, and creating from what's around us.
